At TVL, we don’t make a hooklock, we make THE HookLock. There are many products around that bear the name, but they don’t hit anywhere near the same spec.
So, we thought it might be useful to give a timely reminder about what makes the TVL HookLock a tiger in a field of cats.
A history of innovation
We’re market leaders for a reason. That reason is our drive to innovate and come up with new and ever-improved products to confound the criminals and keep our customers safe.
That means, when our customers buy a TVL HookLock, they’re not just buying a top-of-the-range lock – they’re buying the combined expertise of a dedicated, in-house innovation team. Working with the latest state-of-the-art technology, our experts design, build and test all our products to make sure they’re able to give peak performance and peace of mind.
A test of strength
Speaking of testing, we make sure all our products are put through their paces before they hit the market at our special test centre. Designed to simulate all manner of attacks, it means we can quickly adapt to new techniques and stay one step ahead of the curve – and the thieves.
It’s also how we guarantee our HookLock has the strength to outperform both the criminals and the competition.
- Instead of a one-piece hook, where force is applied direct to the locking mechanism when attacked, our locking mechanism bolt spreads outwards when attacked, giving an extra layer of defence.
- Plus there’s protection from all angles with a steel-enclosed locking mechanism that even small tools can’t reach.
- And you also get a solid, 2mm-thick steel construction held together by rivets – much stronger than the plastic parts and thinner materials you’ll find elsewhere.
To give some useful context, we measured the strengths of a range of hooklocks on the market in kN (the force they can withstand). With the TVL HookLock, you get the strength of a rhino (9.18kN). Our nearest competitor? A race horse (4.9kN).
Of course, it’s not a competition, but we know which we’d want guarding our vehicle.
